Constance Amarantes DeMello, age 88, of Tiverton passed away peacefully, surrounded by
loving family on June 1, 2023. Born in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the
late Gloria Cambra Amarantes and John Amarantes. Constance was the wife of the late Charles
DeMello Jr with whom she resided with in Tiverton, RI for 58 years. Constance lived a fulfilling
life as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, aunt, and most importantly as a loving
grandmother (Vo). She loved spending time with her family and sharing laughter over coffee
with her sisters. Constance loved being a caretaker and it showed by how she raised 6 children
and continued to help raise her 16 grandchildren. She spent countless hours playing board games
with them, playing dress-up, reading, watching movies and cooking special dinners to share. Her
greatest joy and gift was taking care of all her grandchildren as they grew up. She was always
their biggest cheerleader and supporter. Constance is survived by 5 of her 6 children, Richard C.
DeMello of Maine, the late Sandra L Mello, Charles DeMello III of Tiverton and his wife
Amalia, William DeMello of Tennessee, Wendy Ferreira of Dartmouth and her Husband Edward,
and Tami L. Donahue of Portsmouth RI. She also leaves behind 9 granddaughters and 7
grandsons as well as several great grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her sister
Margaret Barboza and her brother Manuel Amarantes. Preceding her in death were
her brothers John, Gilbert, Robert, Albert and James Amarantes as well as her sister Lorraine Silvia. A Mass will be held at 10am at St Theresa's Church in Tiverton on Friday, June 9th.  Burial at Pocasset Hill Cemetery.  www.almeida-pocasset.com
