Obituary

Delores Beverly Rodrigues passed quietly in her home on Sunday, February 19, 2023. She was beloved matriarch of her family and was just shy of her ninety-second birthday. "Del," as she was known, was born on March 10, 1931 in Fall River, Massachusetts. She is survived by her loving husband, Julius, her son, Kenneth (wife Catherine), daughters Pamela Desmarais and Beverly (husband Marc) Schaen. Del was predeceased by a son Thomas. She has six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Del graduated from B.M.C. Durfee High School in 1948. She loved her high school years and served as class secretary, and homeroom director. She performed in the play "Papa is All" while a member of the Drama Club. In 1949, she began her career with the Telephone Company as a long distance operator. She retired in 1998 with over forty-nine years of service and was a very proud member of the Telephone Pioneers. An inducted member of Diman Vocational High School Hall of Fame, Del was administrator to the Thomas Rodrigues Memorial Scholarship. She was also an advisor to the C.Y.O at Our Lady of the Angels Parish Church in Fall River in the 1960s. With a dramatic sense of style, Del had an engaging personality and loved to talk to people no matter what the subject. Whether out for breakfast or at a community event, Del always lit up the room with her presence. She loved dancing no matter what style of music and was an avid shopper especially for vintage shoes. Most of all, Del loved spending time with her family and was their "cheerleader." Del inspired all of her family to do their very best and will remain forever in their hearts with love. A private service for family, relatives and close friends will be held on Saturday, February 25 at Almeida's Funeral Home in Fall River. A funeral mass to which family and friends are invited will be celebrated 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fall River. Interment to follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. To express condolences to the family, flowers or donations to the Thomas Rodrigues Memorial Scholarship will be most graciously accepted.
