Obituary

After a long and full life, Doris A. Fletcher, 96, of Tiverton, Rhode Island, died peacefully on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts, after a short illness.  She was the widow of the late George A. Fletcher, Jr., who predeceased her in 2007.  They were married for 47 years.
Born in Fall River, Doris was the daughter of the late John W. Porter and the late Alice (Belisle) Porter.  She was the sister of the late John Porter and the late Lorraine (Porter) Weber.
A 1944 graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall River, Doris moved to Tiverton in 1955 and became a parishioner of St. Christopher's Church.  She worked as a proofreader at the Fall River Herald News, where she fell in love with George.
Doris is survived by her son, Brian, daughter-in-law, Mickey, granddaughter, Caroline, and grandson, Brian, all of Arlington, Virginia.  She also leaves a grandson, Michael, of Vacaville, California, and several nieces and nephews.
Doris was a beautiful lady and had a wonderful soul. Those who knew her are forever grateful for all the love, kindness, and strength that she generously gave.  She is greatly missed.
Her funeral will be held Friday, November 18 , at 9 am at the Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home, 462 Main Rd., Tiverton, RI, with a 10 am Mass at St. Christopher's Church.  Burial will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River.  Visitation will be Thursday, November 17, from 5 to 8 pm.
