Ernest Lloyd Simpson, age 81 of Riverside Drive, Tiverton, Rhode Island, died peacefully at home on December 5, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Norma B. (Vierra) Simpson.
Born in Tiverton, he was the son of the late John Simpson, Jr. and Grace (Kenyon) Simpson.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, Ernest is survived by his eight children: Joanne and her husband
Stephen J. DelDeo, Sheila M., wife of the late Seabury B. Waring, Eric L. Simpson and his wife Laurie, Barry A. Simpson and his wife Andrea, Lloyd D. Simpson and his wife Colleen, Maura L. and her husband Jaime K. DeGala, Grant E. Simpson and his wife Christine, and Rosemary and her husband Sean Ford; 19 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of Marion Bradshaw, the late John K., Alvin B. and Dorothy Simpson. He lived in Tiverton all his life and was the sole proprietor of a civil engineering business. He was an alumnus of the University of Rhode Island and Durfee High School. Ernest was a Navy Seabee Veteran of the Korean War. He served as a member of the Tiverton Planning Board and past president of the Tiverton Lions Club. Visitation FRIDAY 4-8 PM. His Funeral will be held SATURDAY at 9 AM from the POCASSET MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME 462 Main Rd, Tiverton, RI with a 10 AM Mass at St Theresa's Church, Tiverton.
