Fernanda M. (Raposo) Almeida, 96 off Fall River, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 just one day shy of her 97th birthday.  Born in St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Terezha (Cabral) Raposo.  She was the wife of the late Antonio D. Almeida.  She is survived by a stepdaughter Annabelle (Almeida) Veilleux and husband Douglas of Fall River and 2 beloved grandsons, Anthony Veilleux (Maggie) of Dedham, MA and Timothy Veilleux (Rachel) of Mt Juliet, TN. , 2 sisters and a beloved brother Marcelino Raposo whom she was close with
and many nieces and nephews.  She worked a the former Quaker Fabric and BoMar for many years.  She was a missionary and a nurse in her younger years whom she cared for and helped many desolate people in Lisbon, Portugal.  She played the organ and was also the director of the church choir at Our Lady of Health, a communicant of Espirito Santo Church and enjoyed taking trips with church members.  She was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality and was awarded the Marian medal. Her specialty was making Portuguese soup.
She enjoyed spending time and Holidays with her family.
Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday August 28th at the A F Almeida & Son Funeral Home 1309 Globe St,  Fall River with a Visitation from 8:30 to 9:30am prior to Mass at 10am at Espirito Santo Church on Alden St, Fall River.  Burial at Notre Dame Cemetery. http://www.almeida-pocasset.com .  Breakfast buffet at McGovern's Restaurant to follow services,
