Hermano Couto, 80, of Portland, ME, formerly of Fall River, MA, died peacefully on August 23, 2026 at Pinnacle Health & Rehabilitation Center.  He was the loving husband of Maria Jose (DaMota) Couto.  Born in Pico da Pedra, Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Antonio J. Couto and Angelina Tavares (Labao) Couto.

Hermano was employed as a machine operator with Duro Finishing for many years until his retirement.  He was a Communicant of Good Shepherd Parish in Fall River.

He leaves his loving daughter, Carla Field & her husband Michael of Portland, ME and his cherished granddaughter, MacKenzie Field.  He was the brother of Jose E. Couto of Bristol, RI, Joao C. Couto of Sao Miguel, Azores, Olga M. Martins of Canada, Lucia M. DaRosa of Sao Miguel, Azores, and Maria J. Couto of Italy.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the A.F. ALMEIDA & SON FUNERAL HOME, 1309 Globe Street, Fall River, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM in Good Shepherd Church, 1598 South Main Street, Fall River.  Entombment will follow in the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to Good Shepherd Parish will be appreciated.
