John J. Arruda, 92, of Tiverton, RI passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. He was the husband of the late Grace V. (Collins) Arruda.
Born in Little Compton, he was the son of the late Mary (Medeiros) and John M. Arruda. He is survived by his daughter,
Barbara Cabral (Husband Curt) and 2 grandchildren Brian Cabral and Lauren Medeiros (Husband Dan). He also leaves his siblings
Emily Perry, Elsie Giasson, Arthur Arruda and Joseph Arruda. He was the brother of the late Manuel Arruda, Mary Pedro,
Irene Valentine and Dennis Arruda. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator at the Newport Naval Base. He had served in the US Army and was a WWII veteran. He loved playing card games, billiards, traveling to Foxwoods and being with his family. He was a former member of Holy Ghost Parish.
Visitation FRIDAY 5-8 PM. His Funeral will be held SATURDAY at 9am from the POCASSET MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME 462 Main Rd, Tiverton, RI
