Joseph (Winky) Medeiros.   78 years old

Loving husband of Helene (Fortin-Schoonover) to whom he was married for 44 years.

Joseph was born in Newport, RI and was a veteran of the US Army. He then worked at Raytheon as a draftsman for 40 years.

He had a true love for the automobile.  He was a past member of the Fall River Antique Car Club and the Bay State Street Machines.  He found the perfect job after retirement. He worked as a docent at the Newport Car Museum in Portsmouth and he loved it!

He will be fondly remembered for his dry, witty sense of humor and as a man who was always willing to help anyone.

Along with his wife he is survived by his children: Brian Schoonover, fiancée Krysta; Jeffrey Schoonover, wife Julia; Courtney Medeiros and former daughter-in-law Kathleen Schoonover.  He leaves five grandchildren that he loved so very much:  Madison, Cole, Emma, Jack and Sophia.  They added much joy to his life. He also leaves many lifelong friends with whom he enjoyed spending time.

He was a communicant at St. Theresa Church in Tiverton, RI.  A Mass will be held at a later date.
