Lena (Lacerda) Escobar 95, of Tiverton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on
December 13, 2011. She was the wife of the late Luis Gomes Escobar. Born in Cedros, Faial, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Maria Aurora (Lacerda) and Manuel Francisco Lacerda. She had formerly worked in the housekeeping department at Newport Hospital. She was a communicant of St. Theresa's
Parish in Tiverton, RI.
She is survived by a son Joseph Lacerda Escobar (wife Alice)of Portsmouth, RI, 2 daughters Maria Lena Soares (Husband Horace) of Tiverton and Mary L. Cooper (husband Donald)of Tiverton. She also leaves 6 grandchildren,8 greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Maria Lacerda, Manuel Lacerda and Jose F. Lacerda.
Visitation TUESDAY, Dec. 20th from 5-8 PM. Her Funeral will be held WEDNESDAY, Dec. 21st at 9am from the POCASSET MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME 462 Main Road, Tiverton with a 10am Mass at St. Theres'a Church on Stafford Rd, Tiverton at 10am. Burial at St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown, RI.
