Linda Gail Appleget, 50, of Tiverton, RI passed away at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with breast cancer on June 14, 2011. She is survived by her husband, Andrew Appleget, daughter and son-in-law Erin and Todd Yarbough of Tiverton, her parents, James and Alice Rego of Tiverton, sister Nancy Rego of Sarasota, FL and brother Michael Rego and his wife Linda of Rehoboth, MA. Her eldest brother David Rego predeceased her in 1977. In addition she leaves behind her parents-in-law, a sister-in-law, two brothers-in-law and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews throughout the country. Linda worked on submarine combat systems for many years at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, RI before moving to the field of education. Working in the Middletown, Bristol-Warren and Central Falls school district technology departments, Linda developed computer and network solutions to improve school administration and the teaching of all subjects through integration of technology and curricula. Linda graduated with highest honors from Fisher College in 1992 with an A.S. in Business Computer Applications and returned to college in 2006 to complete her B.S. in Technology Education from Rhode Island College, graduating cum laude in 2008. Her first teaching job at Ocean Tides School in Providence, RI proved both challenging and immensely rewarding for her. While finishing her education and becoming a teacher completed a major milestone in Linda's life, her proudest achievement by far was raising her daughter Erin to see her graduate from college, marry a loving husband and start a successful career. While there is much left she would wish to be part of Linda rests peacefully knowing she laid a solid foundation for her daughter's future. Linda loved all things creative and her outlets included cooking, gardening, painting, furniture restoration, home remodeling, decorating and a passion for miniatures. Linda touched all who met her and was always concerned for others more than herself. She volunteered at St. Mark's Soup Kitchen in Fall River, donated to her church and many charities and performed random acts of kindness as her heart directed her. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Calling hours will be at Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home, 462 Main Rd., Tiverton, RI from 4-8PM on Thursday June 16.
