Lionel S. Rapoza 89, of Tiverton, RI, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 at Saint Anne's Hospital in Fall River, Mass. He was the beloved husband of Evelyn B. (Rossoni) Rapoza for 55 years. Born in Fall River on December 1, 1922, he was the son of the late Frank S. and Maria A, (Rapoza) Rapoza. Mr. Rapoza was a Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict serving in the North Atlantic, Pacific and Asiatic-Pacific arenas. After faithfully serving his country, Mr. Rapoza was a night supervisor/materials manager for RI Hospital until his retirement in 1987. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, and their wives; Craig F. Rapoza and his wife Irene, Mark F. Rapoza and his wife Jeanne and Gary F. Rapoza and his wife Amanda, a sister Mary (Rapoza) Titone, and three brothers Noel Rapoza, Frank Rapoza and Moses Rapoza. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren who he loved and cared for so deeply. Calling hours will be held on TUESDAY from 9:00 to 10:30am at the POCASSET MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME on Main Rd in Tiverton, RI, with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM in Saint Catherine of Siena Church, Little Compton, RI.
