Maria da Estrela was a devoted Catholic whose strong faith in God guided her every day of her life.

She was a phenomenal cook and baker. Her family will always cherish their memories of the food she so lovingly prepared for them, from the gourmet after school meals for her grandchildren, to the freshly baked muffins and coffee at 3am to help with studying, to the elaborate banquets for holidays and family parties. Additionally, she was a very talented seamstress and embroiderer who fashioned exquisite clothes and linens for her husband, children, and extended family members.

Above all, she was the ultimate wife, mother, and grandmother who always provided a warm and loving home for her family. Her true joy in life was taking care of her husband, children, and grandchildren, and she was the light of their lives. Her family loved gathering around her as she entertained them with her many stories, leaving them laughing for hours. Her work ethic was unparalleled. And most importantly, she provided the best example to her children and grandchildren of how to live a virtuous life. With everything she did, she taught her family to always do the right thing.
