Maria Gloria (Couto) Moreira, 86, of Fall River, formerly of Tiverton, passed away on June 3rd. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Raul Couto and Maria (DaCustadio) Couto and the wife of the late Manuel R. Moreira. Maria was a dedicated parishioner at St. Theresa's Church and worked as a seamstress at Rochelle Apparel for many years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and spending time with her family. Maria is survived by her children: David Moreira (fiance Susan), Evelyn Kennedy (husband Bill), Gloria Combs (husband Stan), Michael Moreira, and Bento Moreira. She was the Mother of the late Manuel Moreira Jr. She also leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings whom she loved dearly. She was known for her friendly demeanor, selflessness and kind heart. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 10th, from 5 to 8 pm at the AF Almeida & Son Funeral Home, 1309 Globe St., Fall River. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 11th, at 9 am from the Funeral Home with a 10 am Mass at St. Theresa Church on Stafford Rd, Tiverton. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
