Michael Joseph Simmons 84, of  Tiverton, RI passed away on August 3, 2024.  He was the husband of Katherine Ann (Peters) Simmons.  Born in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Joseph Gray Simmons and Frances G. (Leary) Simmons.  He was an educator in the Tiverton School System for  almost 30 years.  He was a graduate of SMU and had also attended RI College for continued studies.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children Sheryl Medeiros (husband James) of Westport, Bethany Collard (husband Gregory) of Assonet, Sarah Cabral (husband Kenneth) of Dartmouth, and Shawn Simmons (wife Julie) of Tiverton.  He also leaves 6 grandchildren Kaleigh, Aidan, Abigail, Cameron, Sydney, and Dustin.  Great grandchildren are Arielle and Chase.  He was the brother of the late Elizabeth Cynthia Boardman.
He enjoyed boating, gardening, and vacationing with his family.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Little Compton on Friday, August 9th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to L.I.F.E. Incorporated, 490 Metacom Ave., Bristol, RI 02809.  LIFE Inc. | Contact (lifeincri.org)  Burial will be private.
