Michael V. Sobel, M.D., 76, of Tiverton, RI passed away on July 4th, 2011. He was the husband of Pamela (Cook) Sobel. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Betty (Gruber) and Samuel Hillel Sobel, M.D. He was a Graduate of Cornell University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. A Rheumatologist, he practiced at Yale - New Haven, CT, Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Cornell in Ithaca, New York. He had also taught at Cornell, Massachusetts General Hospital and Yale, and basically wherever he had practiced. He had published numerous articles in professional medical journals. He was also a Championship Bridge Player.
In addition to his wife Pamela, he is survived by a daughter Amanda Sobel, 2 sons from a previous marriage, Jeremy Sobel and Daniel Sobel, along with 2 grandchildren Danny Sobel and Rebecca Sobel. He also leaves a brother
Stephen Sobel, D.D.S. and a sister Dava Sobel. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
