Shirley Louise Venancio, 82, of Warwick RI (Previously Tiverton, RI) passed away at Kent Hospital surrounded by her family.  She was the daughter of the late Laura and Eugene Simmons.  Shirley was the devoted wife (40 years) of the late Alfred (Mickey) Venancio and mother to Mike Venancio (Karen), the late David Venancio, and Lori Caine (& the late son in law Raymond Caine).  She was the grandmother to Mike Venancio (Aislynne) and Austin & Abbygail Caine and great grandmother to Chaeli, Layla and Julian Venancio.  She was sister to the late Delores Alves and Joan Gracia (Tony) and Norman Simmons (Pam) and had many nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own.

Shirley had worked at Chace Curtain in Fall River for many years.  When it closed she went back to school and became a CNA as she loved helping people.  She loved her grandson Mikey and her and her husband Mickey spent countless hours at their summer cottage (East End Sportsmen's Club where Mikey learned how to swim, fish and  boating.  She had a passion for sewing and could make anything from scratch making her own patterns and stage clothes when her son Michael was in a band.  In her senior years she took up painting and was quite good at it.  She had a whole room dedicated to crafts years and so enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter Abbygail creating things for all seasons.  She was so proud of her grandson Austin and told everyone she met that he was going in the Army in June.  We know she will be watching over him.

Shirley was an amazing strong, independent woman who will surely be missed.  She was a strong believe of our Lord ans Savior and we find comfort in knowing she is truly resting in peace.
