STEPHEN JOSEPH PLATTEd, , 59 died unexpectedly in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico. A former resident of Tiverton, RI, and later of Portland, OR, he was the son of William Platte of Tiverton and the late Joan Platte. He is survived by his children, Odell Platte and Viola Platte of Atherton, N. Queensland, Australia; his three sistes Margaret Robinson, Ruth Elardo and Catherine Morehead; and his father William. Predeceased are his mother Joan (D. 2009) and brother David (d. 1982). Stephen graduated from The Jewelry Institute in 1984 and earned his G.I.A. Certficate. He had worked at Tilden Thurbers Jewelers in Providence until it closed. He was widely traveled, across five continents, and had resided in Europe and Australia as well as several U.S. cities. Thousands of miles were covered by hiking which he loved. Visitation FRIDAY Nov. 21 from 6:30 to 8:30PM at the POCASSET MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME 462 Main Rd, Tiverton, RI. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Christophers Church on Nov. 22nd at 10am.
